In 1987, the legendary Chef Paul Bocuse came up with an idea to showcase the sheer amount of dedication, hard work, and precision that goes into creating the finest cuisine, and thus the Bocuse d'Or International Culinary Competition was born. Since then, it has become an important event in the culinary world, aiming to broaden the public's understanding of what it takes to create exquisite food.
In September 2022, Mauritius participated in the Bocuse Africa Finals in Dakhla, Morocco, for the very first time in history. And not only did they participate, but they also emerged victorious, taking home the Gold Medal in this prestigious competition, often referred to as the "Olympics of Gastronomy."
Following their stunning win, Mauritius, along with Morocco represented the entire African continent at the Bocuse d'Or Grand Final in Lyon, France, on 22-23 January 2023. And while the competition was fierce, with 24 countries vying for the top spot, Team Mauritius performed incredibly well, securing the 19th place.
